Mission, Core Values & Vision

Mission

Communicate the Word of God, model the Grace of God, and advance the Kingdom of God such that people from Greensboro, North Carolina, to the ends of the earth will glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

Core Values

WORD OF GOD ...
  • We believe in the Bible as the God-breathed and inerrant, unchanging Word of God.

  • We believe that what we preach, how we worship, what and how we teach, and the way we live in Christian community and relate to the world around us is to be shaped and directed by the Word of God.

  • We believe that the doctrines contained in the Word of God are faithfully expressed by the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

GRACE OF GOD ...

  • We believe that God's Glory is fully displayed by the Grace of God, which is the pervasive theme, story, and message of the Bible.

  • We believe that we are reconciled to a Holy God, not by our good works or our own righteousness, but by the Grace of God that comes to us through Christ's sinless life, perfect obedience, atoning death on the Cross, and resurrection.

  • We believe that God leads us in responding to the Grace of God through the work of the Holy Spirit in each of us individually, and in our life together in the Body of Christ.

KINGDOM OF GOD ...
  • We believe that the Kingdom of God exists in the present, and that God's Kingdom is advanced through the life and ministry of the Body of Christ, the Church.

  • We believe that the Word, sacraments, and prayer are foundational to the worship, fellowship, and ministry of the Church.

  • We believe that each church member has been uniquely gifted by God and is called to use those spiritual gifts in advancing the life and ministry of the Church.

  • We believe that the word and deed emphasis of Scripture calls us to include global outreach and acts of mercy as a vital part of the Church's life and ministry.

  • We believe that stewardship of time, material possessions and faithful giving to further the Kingdom of God results from the joyful acknowledgment that everything we have comes from God.

Vision

We envision a time when ...
  1. Worship unifies our congregation around a dynamic and diverse mix of liturgies, including music, that are God-focused, Word-centered, confessional, and meaningful for both our members and the visitors who attend.

  2. Prayer is the heartbeat of our church as evidenced by the extent to which every decision, every activity and event, every outreach and missions effort, and every challenge faced by individuals, groups, and families in our church is bathed in individual and corporate prayer.

  3. Each individual's need and desire for spiritual growth and Christian friendship is matched by one-on-one discipling, educational programs, and small group opportunities, all of which enable those involved to become knowledgeable and faithful disciples of Christ and active members of His Church.

  4. Everyone who enters our church feels welcomed, valued, and needed, which flows out of our efforts to warmly greet visitors, to talk about our church in positive and encouraging ways, to help others find their place in the Body of Christ, to reconcile with one another in Christ, and to seek ways to share our lives outside of worship.

  5. Members of our church serve our congregation and community because the Word of God has changed their hearts, they have identified and are using their spiritual gifts, and they have developed an eagerness to seek and respond to service opportunities.

  6. Because of a heart for the lost and a passion for both local and global evangelism, there is an ongoing effort to equip all members to effectively share their faith, to provide organized mission trips and other local and global outreach opportunities, and to assist and pray for those called to be missionaries.

  7. Because we continually emphasize that everything we have in life comes from a loving God, all church members faithfully and joyfully tithe and give of their time and spiritual gifts.

  8. A sanctuary carefully designed for future growth and ministry needs has been completed, and the planning, thoughtful stewardship, and utilization of our facilities and grounds minister to our community as well as our congregation on as many days and for as many hours per week as possible.
